Top 8 Bit is a hand-picked collection of the best 8-bit video games, playable instantly in your browser. No downloads, no installs, no sign-ups — just click and play.
The catalogue is deliberately small. Instead of dumping thousands of ROMs, we curate the games that are actually worth your time: the all-time classics, the hidden gems and the fan favourites for NES, Game Boy, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, PC Engine and ColecoVision.
How it works
Games run on EmulatorJS, a modern WebAssembly port of proven open-source emulators. Everything runs client-side in your browser — on desktop, tablet or phone. On mobile, a touch gamepad appears automatically.
Why a curated list?
Most retro sites throw 10,000 ROMs at you and let you drown. We did the opposite: we ranked games by real play data and community ratings, cut the filler, and kept roughly the top picks per system. If a game is here, it earned its place.
